Surface Testing for Sars-CoV-2 (COVID-19)

OSI offers surface testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (Sars-CoV-2).

The virus can be detected on a variety of surfaces. One study investigates the stability of the virus at different temperatures and found the virus is highly stable at 4°C, but sensitive to heat (Chin et al., 2020, Lancet Microbe). The same investigation looked at the stability of the virus on different surfaces. The table below has been peer reviewed and supplements the Chin et al., 2020, Lancet Microbe study.

Surface testing for Sars-CoV-2 can be a useful tool in a risk mitigation program to determine if the virus is present before and after cleaning. OSI currently offers two different tests, a coronavirus screen and one that is specific for Sars-Cov-2. The testing is offered with a 2-day turnaround time, but results can be expedited by request.
