Bacterial and Fungal Surface and Air Sampling

January 13, 2014

Bacterial and fungal contamination can adversely affect products or in some cases pharmaceutical drugs in sterile low-risk or high-risk compounding facilities. Maintaining a clean environment is critical for the compounding setting to prevent the spread of disease. A fungal meningitis outbreak, in 2012, was caused by contaminated items resulted in more than 50 deaths and over 722 cases of serious disease reported by the CDC. OSI can help develop procedures to comply with relevant ISO standards and the standards of the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP 797).  OSI can conduct routine monitoring for viable airborne and surface particles and establish or evaluate relevant procedures and SOPs.  Please contact Johnny Lim at (858) 558-6736 or Johnny@occserv.com for more information regarding USP 797 sampling.
